Central Ohio Big Band Festival Features 12 Jazz Big Bands

Saturday, July 18, 2026

Some of the best jazz big bands perform at the Central Ohio Big Band Showcase at Valley Dale Ballroom (1590 Sunbury Road, Columbus).

Many of Central Ohio’s best jazz big bands will celebrate jazz at the Big Band Bash IV on the 18th of July in the historic Valley Dale Ballroom. Twelve bands will perform back to back for a full day and evening of jazz.

For more than 100 years the Valley Dale Ballroom has hosted big bands for jazz and for dancing. Today, that tradition continues, with the modern big bands of Columbus sharing their best jazz together, all for Columbus to enjoy! The echoes of Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington and Count Basie will once again fill the halls. You should also expect some modern Jazz.

Landa and Rick Brunetto will once again host this jazz affair, inviting all jazz lovers, big band fans and ballroom dancers to share the day and evening. From 11am to 10pm, its all JAZZ.

Admission is $10 for the entire day, and students are admitted free. There is a cash food and drink bar on site. Spend the day, enjoy your favorite bands. Students will learn a lot of music listening to Central Ohio’s best bands.

The Valley Dale Jazz Education foundation sponsors this event, promoting jazz and music education. Come celebrate our community making music! Jazz is America’s Classical Music!

Interview opportunities, and film or recording opportunities are able to be scheduled with Landa and Rick Bruneto, who own Valley Dale, or Rick Brown. For more information, please reach out to:

The Emerald City Swing Orchestra is a 18-piece band with an extensive musical library that features classic songs of the era of the Big Bands, such as Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Woody Herman, Stan Kenton and Buddy Rich, contemporary artists such as Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Van Morrison, Steely Dan, Sade and Carlos Santana, and vocal songs of classic jazz singers like Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Bobby Darin, Nat Cole and Michael Buble.

The Emerald City Swing Orchestra provides musical entertainment to the Dublin and Central Ohio communities, while endeavoring to contribute to the preservation of the quintessential American art form, big band music. We showcase the original big band form that represented popular music in the era before, during and after the Second World War, as well as several variations that have evolved in the decades since.

The Emerald City Swing Orchestra has an extensive library of ballroom dance music.
